The Capital Market Authority (CMA) which is responsible for promoting and facilitating the development of an orderly, fair and efficient capital markets industry in Uganda was established in 1996 through an Act of Parliament. This led to the establishment of Uganda Securities Exchange which mainly offers a platform to qualified investors desirous of raising capital for investment. The CMA is responsible for regulating the industry including licensing of brokers, unit trusts, mutual fund, dealers, investment advisors and collective investment schemes.
